Consent is Everything for Youth

Program Overview

Consent Is Everything is a prevention education training designed for youth and young adults to help them understand consent, boundaries, and respectful communication. The program provides clear, age appropriate education on what consent means, how it applies to everyday interactions, and why mutual respect is essential to healthy relationships.

As young people navigate friendships, dating, and increasing independence, they often receive mixed messages about boundaries and consent. Consent Is Everything helps clarify these concepts and supports youth in developing skills to communicate clearly, recognize red flags, and respect the boundaries of others. The training is grounded in trauma informed and prevention focused principles and emphasizes empowerment rather than fear.

Consent Is Everything was developed by Our Voice as part of its commitment to preventing sexual violence through education and early intervention.

Why This Training Matters

Many young people are never explicitly taught what consent looks like in real life situations. Without clear guidance, misunderstandings can occur and harmful behavior may go unchallenged.

Consent Is Everything helps youth build a shared understanding of consent and respect. By learning these concepts early, participants are better equipped to protect themselves, respect others, and contribute to safer peer cultures.

This training supports prevention by addressing attitudes and behaviors before harm occurs.

How the Training Works

Consent Is Everything is delivered as an interactive, discussion based training that encourages participation and reflection. Sessions are designed to be engaging and supportive while addressing serious topics in developmentally appropriate ways.

Training elements include facilitated discussion, scenario based learning, visual tools, and opportunities for questions. The training can be delivered virtually or in person and adapted to different time frames and group sizes.

What Participants Will Gain

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand consent and boundaries more clearly

  • Recognize when consent is present or absent

  • Feel more confident communicating boundaries

  • Learn how to support peers and seek help

  • Gain tools to navigate relationships more safely

Participants leave with practical knowledge they can apply in their everyday interactions.
